GENERAL INFORMATION

Q:  Who can join army cadets?

A:  To join army cadets, you must be at least twelve (12) years of age.  You must also be either a Canadian Citizen or a landed immigrant.  


Q:  How much does it cost?
A:  The Army Cadet program is Free for all who apply.  There are times when small fees are required however we do our best to keep them to a minimum.

Q:  Is the uniform also free?

A:  Yes, even the uniform is issued free of charge but must be maintained at the cadets expense and returned when it no longer fits or when leaving the program.

Q:  Can cadets be used as academic credit?
A:  Yes.  Cadets may receive up to 12 academic credits for a wide range of cadet qualifications.
Q:  Who trains the cadets at the corps?
A:  CIC Officers, adult volunteers, and senior cadets.
Q:  What is the CIC?
A:  All uniformed adults that work with cadets are member of the Cadet Instructor Cadre (CIC).  The CIC is a component of the Canadian Forces Reserves and all CIC Officers are CF members who receive training as youth development officers.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Q:  Am I required to join the Canadian Forces after cadets?
A:  No, there is no obligation to join the Canadian Forces.

Q:  What extra activities are available through the corps?
A:  We have a  marksmanship program.

Q:  Are there travel opportunities?
A:  Yes.  Cadets can apply for international exchanges.  Every summer senior army cadets from across Canada travel to Germany, England, Scotland, Wales, and many other countries.
